(Versione inglese) OCC. The little Swiss sister is born! Last week of August, trailers coming from the whole world will run beyond borders around the Mont Blanc range between France, Italy and Switzerland of the 4 events of The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® featuring distances beyond 100km. The trail effect is contagious and arouses new desires! This great week just lacked one event: a race that starts in Switzerland
For the 2014 edition this gap will be filled, with the birth of Orsières - Champex - Chamonix.
On a shorter version, this race will be perfect for fans of medium distances (in the category Trail Ultra Medium (M) between 42km and 69km).
Therefore, for the less «ultra» runners wishing to get into the event of The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc®will find a race suitable for them to start the adventure.
Orsières will finally experiment the rhythm of a start of a race desired for several years.
The UTMB® from Chamonix to Chamonix travels through 3 countries, the CCC® takes off from Italy and flies over Switzerland, TDSTM opens towards the Beaufortain region and the OOC will now honour the Swiss Valais region.
The race will start from Orsières located southwest of the canton in the Val d'Entremont. This valley offers unique landscapes: ultimate peaks on the eastern flanks of the Mont Blanc drawing the franco-swiss frontier, hanging glaciers on polished rocks, fiery torrents... The layout of the OCC goes through that nature, in a charming atmosphere before reaching Champex and the last part just as magical at the UTMB® or the CCC®.

During the official press conference of the 11th edition, 29th of August, Catherine Poletti, race director confirms: «For several years, our Swiss friends have required a race that would take off from Switzerland, and it was important for us to give them satisfaction. The idea of a different format, shorter during the day, which allows to run the last third of the UTMB® and finish their race under the same arch as all the other races, seemed coherent and very attractive for the runners. We are pleased to have responded positively to our Swiss friends. The positive and enthusiast attitude they have shown since day one taking part of the organisation of all the races around the Mont Blanc and their beautiful countries are two marvellous assets to launch the OCC!».
