Tra l'11 e il 12 maggio 2013 si svolgerà a Steenbergen (Olanda, nella provincia del Noord-Brabant) il IAU 24H World & European Championships, rispettivamente alla 10^ e alla 19^ edizione. L'evento internazionale, targato IAU, sarà abbinato alla rinomata 24h Ultraloop di Steenbergen  che giunge quest'anno alla sua 9^ edizione, coronando la crescita della sua qualità organizzativa con l'assegnazione del campionato mondiale ed europeo 2013.

Dopo la recente soddisfazione in casa azzurra per la medaglia di bronzo a squadre conquistata dalla compagine femminile nel campionato europeo IAU 100 km 2013 100 km (22^ ed.),un nuovo appuntamento attende gli Azzurri dell’ultramaratona, ma questa volta sarà il turno degli specialisti 24 ore su strada: in programma infatti, l’11 e 12 maggio il Campionato del Mondo ed Europeo di 24 ore a Steenbergen in Olanda.
Di seguito, la lista degli azzurri, 9 uomini e 8 donne, convocati per questo importante appuntamento internazionale.
Gli azzurri sono reduci dal raduno nazionale di specialità che si è svolto a Padova nei giorni 20 e 21 aprile 2013.
Saranno 34 i paesi rappresentati in questo Mondiale e 278 atleti partecipanti, presenti i migliori e più forti atleti del mondo di specialità.

(Dal sito ufficiale della manifestazione olandese "24h Ultraloop Steenbergen") The 9th edition of the Ultrarun of Steenbergen will be a very special one. After being the organizing comity of the Dutch Championship for the last 5 years and the Belgium counterpart for the last 2 years we got the assignment to organize the 2013 European- and World Championships. A great challenge for us as an organization. But we keep the mindset we had before: serving the athletes to reach their best performances.

Unfortunately for 2013 we don't have the 6hour race in our program due to the EC & WK 24hour. This was the race we started with in 2005 and will certainly be back on the program in the coming editions. Same for the Marathon. For the 24 Hour race there will be an open race with a max. number of participants of 100 including the athletes for the Dutch & Belgium championships. The registration for this open race is now open.

The course will be slightly different from the one know from other races. At the end of the Krommeweg athletes won't turn right directly at the gym but will continue till the end of the street. The athletes won't run on the crushed shell track anymore but will follow the road next to it. Before crossing the bridge the athletes will turn left. With these changes some difficult corners were removed from the course to speed it up.

On Friday the 10th of Mai 2013 the event will be officially opened by a flag parade in the city centre of Steenbergen.
