Campionato del Mondo 100 km (+Europeo). La mattina dell'8 settembre avrà luogo una conferenza medica sul ruolo degli aspetti nutrizionali nell'ultramaratona

IAU logo 01 Piu' di 230 atleti in rappresentanza di 35 diverse nazioni si confronteranno nella distanza di 100 km in occasione del Campionato del Mondo 100 km (25^edizione) ed Europeo (20^edizioni) che si terra' a Winschoten (NED), il prossimo 10 settembre, con l-aggiunta del Campionato del Mondo Master (patrocinato e promosso dalla WMA - World masters Athetics). Ricordiamo che il giorno 8, a partire dalle ore 9.00 presso il Viillaggio Atleti a Pagend, si svolgerä' una Conferenza Medica sugli aspetti nutrizionali e ul loro ruolo nelle ultramaratone, subito seguioto dalla Conferenza stampa che presentera'l-evento nei dettagli a tutti i partecipanti e ai giornalisti.

Di seguito il testo integrale del comunicato lanciato da Nadeem Khan, responsabile dell'Area Comunicazioni della IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners).

There are more than 230 athletes representing 35 countries that will be toeing the line at the 25th ediiton of these championships. There will also be a Masters event that will be run concurrently with the world championships. This is done in collaboration with the World Masters Athletics.

Please also note that we will have a Medical Conference: "Nutrition and its role in Ultrarunning" organized on Sept 9th 2011 (9am-11am) at the Athletes Village. This will precede the Media Conference (11am-12pm). Both events are open to all members (athletes,coaches, support staff) of the participating federations and interested local ultrarunning enthusiasts.

More details on the medical conference, including a detailed programme and information on the speakers, is attached as a pdf copy. Also, please find the Media report for the upcoming championships attached, as well.

We will strive to carry the Live Updates on our website and please refer to it after Sept 8th 2011. Also, you can follow us on twitter (@iaunews).

The next major event after the 100km worlds is the Commonwealth Championships. IAU is supporting the Commonwealth Mountain and Ultradistance Running Championships (Sept 23-25) that has two ultrarunning races (24 hours and 54km trails) being organized in North Wales.

Campionato del Mondo 100 km (+ Europeo). In partenza per Winschoten la nazionale italiana. Forza Azzurri!

squadra azzurra e staff Il 10 settembre si disputera' a Winschoten il Campionato del Mondo 100 km (100 km World Championships, alla sua 25^ edizione, patrocinata dalla IAAF) cui e' abbinato il Campionato Europeo 100 km (100 km European Championships, alla sua 20^edizione, sotto il patrocinio dell'Associazione europea di Atletica), e assieme anche il WMA 100 km Championships (ovvero il Campionato del Mondo 100 km master sotto il patrocinio della WMA - World Masters Association).

La squadra italiana e' in partenza. Giovedì mattina, dall’aeroporto di Bergamo - Orio al Serio, gli atleti raggiungeranno la cittadina olandese dove si correrà la gara che attendono e preparano da mesi.

Winschoten ha gia'ospitato diverse volte i Campionati del mondo ed europei 100 km. Questa, per il Mondiale, sara' la sesta, mentre per quanto riguarda l'Europeo l'ottava e, infine, per il WMA la seconda.

Il circuito è un anello di 10 km da ripetere 10 volte: quelli degli Italiani che vi hanno gia' corso garantiscono che il tracciato e' scorrevole, pianeggiante e caratterizzato da una grande partecipazione di pubblico.

Di certo, la squadra italiana potra' contare, oltre che sul calore del pubblico di una gara ormai consolidata nel panorama europeo, anche sui numerosi supporter italiani che seguiranno la spedizione: famigliari e amici.

Anche un buon numero di Official seguirà la squadra, per assisterla nei giorni precedenti (per quanto riguarda lo staff dei fisioterapisti e massaggiatori) e durante la gara nei due punti ristoro previsti.

Ai nostri ragazzi facciamo un grande “IN BOCCA AL LUPO!” e, per chi avra' voglia e piacere di accoglierli al termine dell-impresa, saranno di ritorno domenica 11 ad Orio al Serio alle 15.45

Campionato del Mondo Ultratrail 2011. Ecco alcuni video del IAU Trail World Championships realizzati da Claudio Cunegatti

Claudio Cunegatti è uno degli organizzatori dell'Ultrabericus Trail e ha accompagnato la Nazionale italiana a Connemara, per presentare la candidatura per il Mondiale Trail 2013 (per la Trans d'Havet) all'esecutivo IAU.

E' stato anche di valido supporto allo staff e al team e, durante la gara, ha realizzato delle riprese video.

IAU 50 km World Trophy Final (8^ ed.). Eliot Kiplagat Biwott (KEN) e Emma Gooderham vincitori dell'8° Trofeo Mondiale IAU 50 km. Il comunicato ufficale della IAU

Ad Assen (NED), si è svolta lo scorso 20 agosto, l'8^ edizione del IAU 50 km World Trophy Final.

a gara di Assen (8^ edizione della IAU 50 km World Trophy Final) si è svolta oggi, 20 agosto, ad Assen (NED) su di un circuito di 5 km da ripersi per dieci volte. Il vincitore maschile è stato il keniano Eliot Kiplagat Biwott, in 2h54'59", seguito dal belga Pieter Vermeesch (2h57'29) e dal nipponico Kaito Iwayama (2h59'18). Primo degli italiani Walter Sartor (14° assoluto) con 3h16'25". Tutto britannico il podio femminile con Emma Gooderham, sul gradino più alto del podio e 15^ assoluta, in 3h17'36, seguita da Susan Harrison, , 21^ assoluta, in 3h25' 28 e da Joanna Zakrzevsky in 3h26'43 (22^ assoluta).

Sono stati 125 gli atleti in gara, di cui quelli in lizza per il Trofeo 50 km IAU e classificati sono stati 31.

Tutti gli altri hanno gareggiato nella gara open.

Eliot Kiplagat Biwott (KEN) and Emma Gooderham (GBR) win the 8^th IAU 50km World Trophy Final.

The race took place in Assen on August 20^th 2011. Both winners established new course records with Biwott running a time of 2:54:53 and Gooderham finishing in 3:17:30.

Assen, located about 2.5 hours away from Amsterdam, was the site of the 8^th IAU 50km World Trophy Final. Located in the north eastern Netherlands, Assen is referred to as “the town among the trees”.

The race was organized on 10-five kilometre loop which was relatively flat and a fast course. There was also an open race that was run concurrently with the World Trophy Final.

Race day temperatures were around mind-teens at the start and warmed up as the day went on. With the fast field assembled at the start there were talks of a potential course record which formerly stood at 3:09:49 and 3:58:43 for the men and women respectively. This would prove to be true for both fields.

In the men’s event, rookie IAU runner Eliot Kiplagat Biwott (KEN) took the top honours winning the race in course record time of 2:54:53. Pieter Vermeesch (BEL), who is having an outstanding season, finished in second place with 2:57:23 and Kaito Iwayama (JPN), last year’s fourth place finisher, finished third in 2:59:12.

Early race leaders John Wachira (KEN), Seun Moleshioa (RSA) and Eliza Mogoboya (RSA) started with a blistering pace running through the first two thirds of the race. By the 35km mark, there were some definite moves that had begun to take place. Biwott, having run a conservative pace, through the race started to move up the field. The early leaders began to fade away and Vermeesch followed by Iwayama moved into strategic spots to make the podium.

In the women’s race, Emma Gooderham (GBR) added another medal to her already existing silver medal from the 100km Commonwealth Championship, winning in a time of 3:17:30. She was followed by last year’s winner Susan Harrison (GBR) who finished in 3:25:05. Gooderham and Harrison’s teammate, Joanna Zakrzewski completed the podium grabbing third in 3:26:37.

It was a chasing game between Gooderham and Harrison for the first quarter of the race. Then in the fourth lap of the ten lap course Gooderham made a courageous move to move past the returning champion and held her lead to set an outstanding course record. Zakrzewski ran a very steady race in only her second ultra run and finished strong behind Harrison.

There were seventeen selection races held from Canada and France to Japan and Australia to select athletes for the World Trophy Final. The criteria for selection included a sub 3:20 (men) and sub 3:50 (women) run. The winners of the series races were automatically selected and following the preliminary selections the fastest finishers were invited until the selection pool was filled. In addition a few runners had invitations extended on the basis of their marathon times.

The next race on the IAU calendar is the 25^th 100km World & European Championships on September 10^th 2011.

Campionato del Mondo 100 km 2011 (25^ ed.). Tutto pronto per la trasferta azzurra a Winschoten. Il programma.

Tutto pronto per la trasferta azzurra in occasione dei prossimi campionati del Mondo 100 km su strada (+Europei) che avranno luogo a Winschoten (NED) il prossimo 10 settembre.

Di seguito il comunicato diramato dalla segreteria IUTA, assieme al programma di massima della trasferta.

(Segreteria IUTA) Comunichiamo il programma della trasferta (vds allegato file) della Squadra Nazionale Italiana che parteciperà al Campionato del Mondo 2011 di 100 km su strada.

La squadra nazionale italiana sarà supportata da uno staff molto operativo e professionale, composto da:

La delegazione italiana, nella quasi totalità, partirà dall'aeroporto di Bergamo Orio al Serio il giorno 8 settembre alle ore 6.50 con destinazione Eindhoven e vi farà ritorno il giorno 11 settembre alle ore 15.45... eventuali supporters saranno i ben venuti!!

Eventuali persone eventualmente disponibili a fornire supporto agli atleti durante la manifestazione dovranno fare presente la loro disponibilità al responsabile Stefano Scevaroli che, nel caso sarà possibile e concesso, coordinerà persone e abbinamenti con atleti.

La ditta Driatec nella persona di Daniele Vietti, e con il contributo di trasporto di Ivan Cudin (che verrà in auto), renderà disponibili presso il Villaggio Atleti oltre 200 confezioni di DriaEnergy per chi ne farà uso. Grazie!

It was a beautiful day in Assen today. The friendly atmosphere combined with the warm hospitality was quite home-like. We do have good news that we will be providing Live Updates tomorrow. We will be running a "runner" between the race site and out hotel (250 meters away) to get race updates as and when they come in.
The Press Conference and the Technical Committee went very well today. For the Press Conference we had three top male and female qualifiers invited to the press conference attended by all the athletes, team management and local media.

IAU 50 km World Trophy Final (8^ ed.). I migliori specialisti nei 50 km in campo mondiale si sfidano domani ad Assen

Si svolgerà ad Assen (NED), il 20 agosto 2011, la finale del Trofeo Mondiale IAU 50 km su strada 2011 (IAU 50 km World Trophy). E' la prima volta che questo evento, targato IAU (alla sua 8^ edizione), si svolgerà nella cittadina olandese di Assen, nota con l'appellativo di "the town among the trees" e che nel 2006 ha ospitato I Campionati del Mondo di Atletica per disabili (ma è anche nota per possedere un circuito che ospita il GP Moto. Molti ricorderanno che l'edizione precedente si è svolta a Galway (Irlanda). Sarà assente il vincitore della Finale 2010, Colleen Makaza (ZIM), mentre invece parteciperà per difendere il suo titolo Sue Harrison vincitrice dell'edizione 2010, a Galway.

Saranno 35 gli atleti che si daranno battaglia, individuati sull abase dei migliori tempi realizzati, per mezzo di una selezione che si è svolta in 17 differenti competizioni sulla distanza di 50 km, valevoli come prove di qualificazione per la finale.

The International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) is pleased to bring the IAU 50km World Trophy Final to Assen, the Netherlands. This is the 1st time that IAU is holding an international event in Assen. However, the Netherlands, is no stranger to hosting Major IAU championships. The “town among trees” will be inviting thirty five international selected athletes to run in a very high calibre 50 km race. They will have an open race concurrently with the World Trophy Final.

The IAU 50km World Trophy Final is taking place on 20th September 2011 in Assen, the Netherlands. Colleen Makaza (ZIM), men’s winner from 2010 is absent this year. However, last year’s winner Sue Harrison (GBR) is back to the World
Trophy Final to defend her title. In Makaza’a absence, Seun Samuel Moleshioa (RSA) is the top qualifier.
Assen, located in north eastern Netherlands, is called the “town among the trees”. It is set in picturesque surroundings where local residents take full advantage of their nature parks and ice skating rinks.

The city of Assen will be the host of the 8th IAU 50km World Trophy Final on August 20th 2011.

Thirty five selected athletes will call Assen their home during the race weekend.
The 50km World Trophy Final culminates, after a series of seventeen races, around the world.

Qualification for the Finals was based on athlete performances and times in the series races. Men had a qualification time of 3:20 and women had 3:50 to be invited to the trip to Assen. In addition, some athletes were extended invitations based on their marathon times.
In the men’s field, Last year’s winner Colleen Makaza (ZIM) is absent. In his absence, Seun Samuel Moleshioa (RSA) leads the list of qualifiers with a time of 2:44:30. 4th place finisher from 2010, Kaito Iwayama (JPN) is second top qualifier with 2:56:19 and is hoping for a podium finish in Assen. Eliya Mogoboya (RSA) rounds up the top three
qualifiers in his inaugural IAU event with a time of 2:56:52. In the women’s field, Sue Harrison (GBR) is returning to defend her title form 2010. She is the top qualifier in 3:15:43 and leads her countrywoman Emma Gooderham who is the current silver medallist from the Commonwealth 100km Championships. Gooderham has a qualification time of 3:32:54. Shanna Ailes Istni (USA) completes the top three in her rookie IAU race with 3:36:22.
The race is being held on a 10km course. It is fairly flat and run through scenic routes in the forest. The male and female course records currently stand at 3:09:49 and 3:58:43 respectively.

The race starts at 10am (Netherlands time).

History of IAU. The International Association of Ultrarunners came into existence in 1984. Today there are more than a thousand ultra races around the world with more than a hundred thousand ultra runners. It is no more an unrealistic event.
The IAAF granted its patronage to the IAU in 1988 and the 100km race became a standard distance recognized by the Federation.

Today IAU organizes 4 major events: 100 km World Championship, 24 Hour World Championship, The Trail World Championship and the 50 km World Trophy Final.

IAU is also a strong supporter of the Commonwealth Championships.

This is in addition to the IAU labels that are attached to several races around the world.
With more than 50 federations and thousand of elite athletes having participated in its events over the years, IAU has respectfully upheld its mandate of developing the sport of ultrarunning.
While it continues to serve the ultrarunning community, the IAU is looking forward to the next 24 years as it envisions reaching its 50th Anniversary.

50 km World Trophy Final. Si svolgerà ad Assen (NED), il prossimo 20 agosto. L'elenco dei partecipanti

La finale del Trofeo del Mondo IAU 50 km, si svolgerà ad Assen in Olanda il prossimo 20 agosto. Samuel Moleshioa (RSA) tra gli uomini e la britannica Sue Harrison (tra le donne) sono i favoriti. Andrea Anselmi tra gli Italiani

Come sempre, attraverso il sito della IAU, sarà possibile avere aggiornamenti in tempo reale sull'andamento della gara.

Ecco la lista degli atleti che parteciperanno alla competizione. Ricordiamo che la partecipazione al 50 km IAU World Trophy Final è esclusivamente ad inviti sulla base dei piazzamenti ottenuti nelle gare di selezioni, valevoli come "prove".

Media Report 50km World Trophy Final, Assen August 20th 2011

We are now in the midst of IAU international ultrarunning season. After the 3rd IAU Trail World Championships (Connemara, Ireland), we are looking forward to the 8th IAU 50km World Trophy Final.
The race takes place on August 20th 2011 in Assen, the Netherlands. Please find the attached media report pertaining to the event. Seun Samuel Moleshioa (RSA) and Sue Harrison (GBR) lead the list of qualifiers in the men's and women's fields respectively.
We will try our best to bring you Live Updates from the race. But currently we are trying to work technological logistics on the ground. We won't know for certain about Live Updates until we arrive in Assen later this week. But we will keep you posted on the happenings (pre- and post- race and possibly Live Updates) on our website.
The next race after the 50km World Trophy Final is the 25th IAU 100km World and Euroepan Championships in Winschoten on September 10th 2011.

Please note that August 27th is the last day to sign up for the Masters race in Winschoten being run concurrently in collaboration with the WMA.
There is an important message that has been posted about Garmins/GPS on the IAU website revising the existing policy. Please refer to the item under "news".
